As a part of its $350 million comprehensive campaign announced in October, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is launching the Week of Giving, a new tradition of community outreach through social media.
The five-day fundraising event scheduled for next week, April 25-29, encourages businesses, community partners and individuals - including students, alumni, faculty and staff - to celebrate and further support Wake Forest Baptist’s mission in patient care, education and research.
“Fundraising is a major part of this effort, but our first aim is to spread Wake Forest Baptist’s message, connect people to our mission, and share the role that philanthropy plays in making a difference for patients and their families,” said Norman D. Potter, Wake Forest Baptist’s vice president of development and alumni affairs.
People are encouraged to share stories on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms about why they care about Wake Forest Baptist and why giving to the Medical Center is important. The effort includes specific online giving and text-to-give options.
Each day has a designated theme that focuses on specific areas of the Medical Center and ways to donate or provide support. To participate, people are encouraged to like or follow the Medical Center’s social media pages and feeds:
- Facebook—Wake Forest Baptist Health, Brenner Children's Hospital, Wake Forest School of Medicine
- Twitter—@wakehealth, @brennerhospital
Hashtags have been designated for the Medical Center (#OneForWFBMC), Wake Forest Baptist Health - Brenner Children’s Hospital (#OneForBrenner) and Wake Forest School of Medicine (#OneForWFSM and #OneForDeaconDocs).
Suggested giving options include general patient care initiatives, research and discovery initiatives, Brenner Children’s, the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the School of Medicine. Participants also can text SHARE to 80077 to give $10 to Wake Forest Baptist’s Care and Cure Fund, which supports patient care, research and education at the Medical Center.
Details about the Week of Giving are available at wakehealth.edu/weekofgiving.
The $350 million comprehensive campaign is part of Wake Will, the campaign for Wake Forest University, which has a goal to raise a combined $1 billion for the University and the Medical Center.
