Alisa L. Starbuck, M.S.N., R.N., NNP-BC, NEA-BC has been appointed chief nursing officer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Starbuck had been director of advanced practice nursing, quality, research and the Magnet program. In her new position she will oversee daily clinical operations, quality of nursing care, inter-professional relationships and fiscal management of assigned inpatient areas at the Medical Center’s main campus while remaining responsible for evidence-based practice and the Magnet program.
“Alisa has many years of exemplary clinical practice and demonstrates the key leadership attributes of team-building, collaboration, strategic thinking, accountability and execution,” said Cathleen Wheatley, M.S., R.N., Wake Forest Baptist’s chief nurse executive and vice president for clinical operations. “She will fill a key role in our new nursing operations structure that will strengthen our nursing team and further enable us to achieve outcomes in the evolving world of health care.”
Starbuck joined Wake Forest Baptist in 1986 as a staff nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Since then she has held a variety of supervisory positions, including professional practice manager and director of critical care nursing at Brenner Children’s Hospital.
Starbuck holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certificate from Georgetown University Medical Center and is currently pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice at East Carolina University.
