Magazine Recognizes Wake Forest Baptist’s Cancer Program

February 24, 2012

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has been named one of “70 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

In developing the annual list of hospitals “on the cutting edge of cancer treatment, prevention and research,” the magazine’s editorial team analyzed data from sources such as U.S. News and World Report, HealthGrades, the National Cancer Institute and the American College of Surgeons and conducted additional research into each hospital.

“The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist is home to more than 120 clinicians and oncologists with expertise in all aspects among the cancer continuum,” Becker’s Hospital Review noted. “The center is the first in the region to be fully accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the National Cancer Institute has also designated Wake Forest as a comprehensive cancer center.”

Wake Forest Baptist is one of four North Carolina hospitals on the magazine’s list, which is available online at http://www.beckershospitalreview.com/lists/.
