Five women who graduated from the Wake Forest School of Medicine more than 40 years ago will discuss their professional and personal experiences Thursday, March 8, in a panel discussion at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
"Women in Medicine at Wake Forest: An Oral History through Living Stories" will be held in Babcock Auditorium on Wake Forest Baptist's main campus. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin with a reception at 4 p.m., followed by the panel discussion at 4:45.
The five panelists - Drs. Joyce Reynolds (Class of 1952), Bee Gwynn ('60), Gloria Graham ('61), Caryl Guth ('62) and Carolyn Ferree ('70) - will field questions from moderator Simone Caron, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of history at Wake Forest University, and from members of the audience.
"This will be a great opportunity to celebrate these women as well as their stories and to network with other women on the occasion of International Women's Day," said Kathi Kemper, M.D., M.P.H., the Caryl J. Guth Chair for Holistic and Integrative Medicine and professor of pediatrics, public health sciences and family and community medicine at Wake Forest Baptist.
Babcock Auditorium is located in the Hanes Building of Wake Forest Baptist, on Hawthorne Road. The parking deck across the street will be open to visitors free of charge beginning at 3:30 p.m. on March 8.
