8 New Physicians Join Faculty of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has announced the following additions to its faculty.

In the department of internal medicine, section on gastroenterology: John A. Evans, M.D., assistant professor. Evans’ clinical interests include endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic approaches to complications from bariatric operations.

Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology, Evans’ earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed his residency at Emory University. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Harvard School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania.

In the department of internal medicine, section on general surgery: Amy N. Hildreth, M.D., assistant professor. Hildreth’s clinical interests include trauma and surgical critical care.
She earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

Stephen S. McNatt, M.D., assistant professor. McNatt’s clinical interests include hernia, general, and bariatric surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), paraesophageal hernia, weight loss surgery and diverticular disease.

He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. McNatt completed his residency at Emory University affiliated surgery program and his fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine.

Nathan T. Mowery, M.D., assistant professor. Mowery’s clinical interests include: trauma surgery, complex trauma care and surgical critical care.

He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care and earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston and Indiana University School of Medicine, and his fellowship at Louisiana State University and Vanderbilt University.
In the department of internal medicine, section on hematology and oncology: Kenneth W. Zamkoff, M.D., professor. Zamkoff’s interests include general hematology and oncology, lymphomas, and blood and marrow transplants.

He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency and fellowship at State University of New York.

Nathan P. Streer, M.D., assistant professor. Streer’s clinical interests include general hematology and oncology.

He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and his fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

In the department of internal medicine, section on radiation oncology: Michael D. Chan, M.D., assistant professor. Chan’s clinical interests include central nervous system tumors, pediatric oncology, gamma knife, stereotactic radiosurgery, sarcoma, and body stereotactic radiosurgery.

He earned his medical degree from New York School of Medicine and completed his residency at Tufts New England Medical Center.

James J. Urbanic, M.D., assistant professor. Urbanic’s clinical interests include breast cancer, lung cancer, radiation oncology, gamma knife, sarcoma, gynecologic malignancies, genitourinary cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and stereotactic body radiation therapy.
He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
