A dessert auction to benefit the Komen NC Triad Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Belk Court at Hanes Mall. Area restaurants, bakeries, celebrities and friends for the cure donated all the items for the auction. A preview of all the desserts and bidder registration will begin at 10 a.m.
Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines will also be on hand to issue a special announcement regarding the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, scheduled for May 3 in Winston-Salem. His announcement is scheduled for 11 a.m. The auction will begin immediately following the announcement.
More than 100 items have been donated, including a yellow cake with chocolate frosting by Mayor Joines, “The Complete Collected Poems of Maya Angelou – Signed Edition” by Maya Angelou, a “22-minute chocolate cake” by cookbook author Flossie Johnson, a café mocha cake by Ketchie Creek Bakery, a chocolate raspberry layer cake by Mrs. Pumpkin, a lemon pound cake by Unique Bakery, a hummingbird cake by the Sweet Shoppe, a tiramisu by Coppola’s Pizzeria, a dinner party for eight at Bonefish Grill, and much more.
