Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center to sponsor health fair at Hanes Mall

April 19, 2004

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center will sponsor a health fair on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hanes Mall.

Called “The Healthiest Link,” the event is sponsored by Hanes Mall and BestHealth, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center’s community health resource center. Participants will learn about local groups and organizations, and have a chance to win great door prizes and participate in free health screenings.

More than 50 exhibitors from health care organizations, schools and non-profit groups will be available on both levels of Hanes Mall between JCPenney and Sears. Cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose screenings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required. Over 50 door prizes will be given away throughout the day. To enter for a drawing, visit one of the registration tables located on the upper or lower level of the mall near Belk.

Forty-eight people will have a chance to compete in “The Healthiest Link,” a game show format that will pit eight players at a time against each other answering health-related questions. Six players will win a Hanes Mall gift certificate. Players must be at least 18 years of age and only one player per household can sign up. Call BestHealth at (336) 765-8804 to register for the competition.

No registration is required to attend the event, which is free and open to the public.
