WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – More than 300 athletes from across the Southeast will compete in the fifth annual Excellence Triathlon and Family Fun Run on May 25 at Wake Forest University (WFU). The event – to raise money for violence prevention programs – is sponsored by the Women’s Health Center of Excellence at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
The sprint-distance event includes a 300-yard pool swim, a 13.5-mile bike course and a 5- kilometer run. It is open to individuals and teams. Registration is $43 for individuals and $75 for relay teams. On-site registration will be available Friday, May 24 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Kentner Stadium on WFU’s campus, and on race day beginning at 6 a.m.
Both the triathlon and the Fun Run begin at 8 a.m. Registration for the Fun Run is $15 for ages 9 and over. Children under age 9 are free if accompanied by an adult (T shirts are $10).
