Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s sports medicine team is providing free sports physicals on Saturday to high school student-athletes in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS).
The physicals will be conducted for students – including incoming freshmen – who intend to participate in any sport during the upcoming school year.
“We are glad to once again offer these free sports physicals to high school athletes in our community,” said Heath Thornton, M.D., medical director of Wake Forest Baptist’s Athletic Training Outreach Program. “Injury prevention is a key focus of our sports medicine team, and these sports physicals are a great way for us to help keep our young athletes healthy.”
Providing pre-participation sports physicals is part of the partnership between Wake Forest Baptist and WS/FCS to provide certified athletic trainers at the system’s 12 high schools, offering a wide range of nutrition, injury prevention and treatment programs for student-athletes.
