WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Stephen L. Robertson, M.B.A., former chairman of the board trustees of both Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and North Carolina Baptist Hospital, was one of five exemplary hospital trustees who received Trustee Service Awards during the N.C. Hospital Association's Annual Trustee Institute on April 18 at the Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach.
While serving as chair of both boards simultaneously, Robertson led N.C.B.H. to commit to a regional delivery network and completed a strategic restructuring designed to lead the medical center to the top level of academic medical centers in the United States. He also provided valuable guidance to the interim leaders during this time.
During the search for a new CEO, Robertson played a key role in the efforts to gain a Certificate of Need to build a replacement hospital for Davie County. At the same time, the medical center’s affiliation proposal to Lexington Memorial Hospital was accepted.
Established in 1992, the Trustee Service Awards recognize member hospital trustees who have made significant and unique contributions to their hospitals and the communities they serve.
