Cancer Patients Offered Day of Fun

September 26, 2005

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Cancer Patient Support Program at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is honoring patients of their Comprehensive Cancer Center with a “Just for You” activities day on Wednesday, September 28.

Patients and their families will be offered free makeovers, hand and foot massages, free hair cuts, fashion tips, art demonstrations, refreshments and entertainment.

“Just for You” activities day was the brainchild of Connie Lloyd, an employee in the Information Systems department of Wake Forest Baptist, who is undergoing cancer treatment at the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“Undergoing cancer treatment can be demanding and stressful for patients and their families,” said Lloyd. “I thought it would be nice to offer patients a day of fun and pampering…to have a little respite from the treatment process.”

Music is provided by Piedmont Music Center and food is provided by Dewey’s Bakery and Aventis Pharmaceuticals.
