Wake Forest Baptist Named to “Family-Friendly” List

September 3, 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is one of 40 companies in North Carolina recognized by Carolina Parenting Inc. as “family-friendly.” Carolina Parenting Inc., which publishes Carolina Parent, Piedmont Parent and Charlotte Parent magazines, recognizes companies that go out of their way to help their employees put family first.

“In doing so, their policies strengthen their workforce, their employees’ families and our local communities,” said Sharon Havranek, publisher, and Elaine M. Heitman, executive editor, in a letter announcing the award.

The Medical Center’s family-friendly policies cited in the magazines include on-site child care, flexible schedules, an employee assistance program, a wellness program and lactation facilities for new mothers.

The 40 companies on this year’s list will be honored at a luncheon on Sept. 7 in Charlotte.
