Forsyth County SAFE KIDS Coalition Holds Child Safety Seat Check

February 6, 2004

Members of the Forsyth County SAFE KIDS Coalition will host a Child Safety Seat Check on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Babies R Us on Hanes Mall Blvd. in Winston-Salem.

Forsyth County SAFE KIDS Coalition is one of 36 statewide SAFE KIDS coalitions holding seat checks on Saturday. The event, in recognition of National Child Passenger Safety Week, is co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of the Carolinas.

“Each year many children are killed in traffic accidents because their child safety seats were not properly installed,” said Forsyth County SAFE KIDS coordinator Donna Joyner, RN. “This will be a great opportunity for parents to double check their seats to ensure the safety of their children. This is such an easy way to prevent unnecessary deaths.”

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first and only national organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries. Brenner Children’s Hospital has partnered with other hospitals in this national effort.
