Inter-American Society of Hypertension Honors Wake Forest University School of Medicine Professor With Lifetime Achievement Award

Carlos M. Ferrario, M.D. received the 2003 Inter-American Society of Hypertension (IASH) lifetime achievement award at the organization’s 15th scientific meeting held in San Antonio, Tex., April 27-30.

Ferrario is director of the Hypertension and Vascular Disease Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He is on faculty at Wake Forest University School of Medicine where he serves as professor of surgical sciences-general and professor of physiology and pharmacology. Ferrario also holds an endowed chair at the school of medicine as the Dewitt Cordell Professor of Surgical Research.

The IASH is a non-profit organization devoted to the understanding, prevention and control of hypertension and vascular diseases. Its membership includes prominent scientists and physicians from 20 different countries in the Americas as well as Europe, Australia and Asia.
