Wake Forest Baptist to Open Urology Clinic in Wilkes County

March 12, 2019

Wake Forest Baptist Health is expanding clinical services in Wilkes County by opening a new urology clinic to better serve area residents.

Wake Forest Baptist Health Urology-Wilkes is located at 1915 West Park Drive, Suite 101, North Wilkesboro.

“We are pleased to be able to provide world-class urology care to the people of Wilkes County and the surrounding region,” said Anthony Atala, M.D., chair of urology at Wake Forest Baptist Health. “This new location brings more services closer to home for those who need them.”

Two physicians will see patients beginning in early April.

David A. Kunkle, M.D., who leads the clinic, is a urological surgeon whose clinical focus is urological cancers, kidney stones, urinary problems, vasectomy and men’s sexual health. He earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed residencies in general surgery and urology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Laura Culp Foster, M.D., is a urologist whose clinical focus includes bladder cancer, female urinary incontinence, urinary tract infection and painful bladder syndrome. She earned her medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine at Chapel Hill, and completed her residency in the UNC Health Care network.

Both Kunkle and Foster previously practiced in High Point with Wake Forest Baptist Health.
