GREENSBORO, N.C. – March 15, 2018 – From weekend warriors to professional athletes and everyone in between, people interested in physical fitness and exercise can now benefit from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s sports medicine expertise in a new Greensboro location.

The clinic housed at Proehlific Park – the family sports complex and fitness center founded by former Wake Forest University and NFL player Ricky Proehl – offers the same world-class care that is available in the existing Winston-Salem locations, but now closer to home for people who live in the Guilford County area.

“Guilford County is home to a large community of athletes of all skill levels, so we’re pleased to give them the same care that we provide to elite athletes, but now in a convenient location, close to home,” said L. Andrew Koman, M.D., chair of orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest Baptist. “Our goal is to keep athletes healthy, but when they do get injured, we know they want to get back in the game and back to their normal lives as soon as possible.”

Some of the services at Wake Forest Baptist Health Sports Medicine – Proehlific Park include injury prevention and training, injury evaluations, physical therapy, nonsurgical treatments, massage therapy, one-on-one sports nutrition counseling and Vo2 max testing, which measures the maximum amount of oxygen someone can use during exercise.

“We are so glad to welcome Wake Forest Baptist’s sports medicine team to our facility,” said Ricky Proehl, owner of Proehlific Park and former NFL wide receiver and coach. “We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to improve themselves through health and fitness, so these services are a great addition to the Greensboro area.”

Professional, collegiate and high school organizations such as the Winston-Salem Dash, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, the Winston-Salem Open, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, and most recently, Lexington City Schools and Wilkes County Schools, have chosen the sports medicine experts at Wake Forest Baptist to care for their athletes.

The clinic is staffed with a physician assistant, physical therapists, a massage therapist, a registered dietitian and exercise specialist. Patients will also be able to make appointments for consultations with a sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon.

Wake Forest Baptist Health Sports Medicine – Proehlific Park accepts most insurance plans and Proehlific Park membership is not required.
