High Point Medical Center’s Sun and Stars Signature Event Nets $120K to Benefit Patient Care Services

October 10, 2017

High Point Medical Center held its seventh annual Sun & Stars Signature fundraising event on Friday, September 29, 2017 netting $120,000.

All funds raised this year are being applied towards The Campaign for High Point Medical Center which is supporting a major renovation and modernization project for the Congdon Regional Heart Center and the Hayworth Cancer Center at High Point Medical Center. Specifically, funds are going towards providing advanced technology and facility improvements for the cardiology, oncology and surgery programs at the hospital.

This special evening event was held at the High Point Country Club where guests enjoyed dinner and a private concert featuring legendary country music singer and songwriter Jo Dee Messina.

“The Sun & Stars Signature Event has been a tremendous success over the last seven years thanks to so many dedicated sponsors and attendees,” said Denise Potter, Vice President, Foundation/Public Relations and Marketing. “We have netted over three quarters of a million dollars since the events inception and are grateful for the support from our 2017 presenting sponsor The Earl & Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation as well as many other dedicated sponsors and attendees who have made all this possible.”

Over the last seven years, legendary musical acts including Christopher Cross, Peter Cetera, the Little River Band, the Spinners, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Jeffrey Osborne have performed at The Sun & Stars Signature Event.

"I was truly honored to serve as chair of this seventh annual Sun and Stars fundraising event for High Point Medical Center,” said Julie Delgaudio.   “It was encouraging to experience the overwhelming caring support from our community especially towards those who cannot afford their medical care and treatments.   We are thrilled the proceeds will benefit the hospital while ensuring expert care is available close to home for our community.”
