Wake Forest Baptist Serves as Official Medical Provider at Winston-Salem Open

August 7, 2015

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will play several major roles as the official medical provider at the Winston-Salem Open tennis tournament, scheduled for Aug. 22-29.

Wake Forest Baptist medical experts will provide care for the competitors and health information to spectators during the event. This year’s tournament medical director, sports medicine specialist Daryl Rosenbaum, M.D., will lead the Wake Forest Baptist sports medicine team as they advise athletes during the competition.

The Medical Center’s nationally recognized research in sports injury prevention, preeminent sports medicine physician training programs, and advanced, minimally invasive treatments benefit athletes of all ages, from amateurs to professionals.

While providing support for the event, Wake Forest Baptist will offer ticketholders the opportunity to receive a shoe fitting and gait screening, ask a physical therapist about when to return to training after an injury, and learn from a licensed aesthetician about treating and repairing sun damage.

Representatives from Wake Forest Baptist’s Heart and Vascular Center will answer questions about heart disease and prevention, and offer healthy eating tips and body mass index (BMI) calculations.
