Wake Forest Baptist Plastic Surgeon Nominated for North Carolina Doctor of the Year

March 18, 2015

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center plastic surgeon, Lisa David, M.D., has long been known for her dedication to patients, medical missions, research, medical students and residents.

Now she is being recognized as one of 10 finalists for North Carolina Doctor of the Year nominated by members of the N.C. Medical Society in honor of North Carolina Doctors’ Day, celebrated on March 30.

Program director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist, David’s specialties include corrective jaw surgery, reconstructive surgery, cleft lip and palate. Dedicated to medical missions, David travels regularly to developing nations in need of medical assistance and has developed a resident mission program that allows all of her graduating residents to receive this type of experience.

As a result, her residents travel across the world helping people who otherwise may never have access to reconstructive surgeons.

David is active in many regional and national plastic surgery interest groups – and is an editor and reviewer for major publications in the discipline.

David earned her medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She completed her general surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a plastic surgery fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist.
