Wake Forest Baptist Donates AEDs to Local High Schools

January 12, 2015

The Heart and Vascular Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) to West Forsyth High School and Reagan High School during the schools’ basketball game on Friday night at West Forsyth. West Forsyth principal Charles McAninch and Reagan principal Frank Martin accepted on each school’s behalf.

In an effort to educate game attendees about life saving CPR skills, Wake Forest Baptist cardiologist Matthew Belford, M.D.and Lisa Monk, NC RACE CARS Coordinator, addressed fans about the importance of acting quickly during a cardiac event. Belford emphasized what individuals can do to impact their own cardiovascular health outcomes. West Forsyth’s varsity cheerleaders assisted Belford and Monk in demonstrating proper CPR techniques.

"On behalf of the Village of Clemmons, I'd like to thank Wake Forest Baptist for their generous donation to West Forsyth and Reagan High Schools. Wake Forest Baptist has provided a great service to the schools as well as the entire community," said Clemmons Mayor, Nick Nelson.
