Becker’s Hospital Review Names Wake Forest Baptist in List of 100 Great Hospitals in America

April 7, 2014

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center made Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “100 Great Hospitals in America.” The list is a compilation of what the monthly publication calls “some of the most prominent, forward-thinking and focused health care facilities in the nation.”

In their online report, Becker’s writes, “Quality and safety measures at Wake Forest Baptist are among the best in the nation.” The report cites our U.S. News & World Report ranking of 12 specialties among the nation’s top 50 services and our ranking as second in North Carolina for overall care.

“Our Medical Center has made great gains in quality and safety over the past few years thanks to the diligence of our faculty and staff,” said John D. McConnell, M.D., chief executive officer, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. “We are especially proud to be among the 10 best academic medical centers in our national peer group for mortality as measured by the University Healthcare Consortium.”

To develop their list, the Becker’s editorial team conducted research, considered nominations and evaluated hospital ranking sources such as U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals, Healthgrades, Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the LeapFrog Group and others.
