Wake Forest Baptist Participates in Alabama Tornado Relief Efforts

May 11, 2011

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has partnered with the Hope Outreach Church in High Point by donating a 48-foot tractor trailer to deliver donated goods to people who have been affected by the recent tornadoes in Alabama.

Jerry Tysinger, EMT- P, assistant emergency response and recovery coordinator at Wake Forest Baptist, will be driving the truck to deliver clothing, food, water and other necessary materials to those in need in Fort Payne, Ala. on May 12.

“The medical center recently changed its mission statement to ‘A mission to care. A mission to cure,’ and I think that is exactly what we are doing,” said Tysinger. “Although we can’t cure their situation, we can show that we care by doing what we can to help in the relief effort.”
