WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – An auction at The Art Shop in Greensboro, a Corvette Cruise-In in Winston-Salem for car enthusiasts, and the annual Brett’s Ride for Rhabdo in Hickory for cyclists are among upcoming events, benefitting Brenner Children’s Hospital, part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

The Art Shop Charity Art Auction: The Art Shop, in partnership with FMTalk 101.1 WZTK, will hold a charity art auction on Friday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 3900 W. Market St. in Greensboro. More than 60 original oil paintings and limited-edition canvases by national and international artists will be included. The auction is open to the public, but an advance reservation is requested and can be made by phone at (336) 855-8500 or by e-mail at info@artshopnc.com. Bids will be accepted in person the evening of the event or can be made online at www.artshopnc.com, with 100 percent of the profits going to benefit Brenner Children’s Hospital. The 2007 auction raised more than $6,000 for the hospital. WZTK’s Brad Krantz and Britt Whitmire will emcee the event. Refreshments will be served.

Corvette Cruise-In: The Country Corvette Club will hold its fifth annual Corvette Cruise-In on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Comp Rehab Plaza, 131 Miller St. in Winston-Salem. The event is free and open to the public, and donations will be collected to benefit Brenner’s Pediatric Cancer Support Program. Highlights of the cruise-in include: more than 100 Corvettes on display, live music, a raffle for a 32-inch plasma television, auction items, and food provided by Bib’s Downtown. Raffle tickets are $5 each and will be available at the event. T-shirts are $10 each and will only be available at the event. Brett’s Ride for Rhabdo: The sixth annual Brett’s Ride for Rhabdo charity bike ride will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Hickory Foundation YMCA, 701 First St. NW in Hickory, N.C. Entry fee is $25, and riders can choose 10, 32, 52 or 75-mile options. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Brenner to fund research and treatment for pediatric cancer.
