Aegis Family Health Centers to Change Name

June 15, 2007

Aegis Family Health Centers will change its name to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC) Community Physicians, effective July 1.

“Aegis has always been owned and managed by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,” said Lewis Thorp, chief executive officer of Aegis. “The name change is being made to more closely align Aegis with Wake Forest Baptist in the minds of patients and the community.” As it has in the past, WFUBMC Community Physicians will continue to participate in the education of interns, residents and other health professionals.

Aegis currently has 40 providers (34 physicians and six mid-level practitioners) in 14 medical offices, with plans to add eight additional providers and three more offices in the next year.
