Located at 2909 Horse Pen Creek Road., the $163 million, five-story, 134,000-square-foot facility represents a significant investment in the region and a continued commitment to expanding access to high-quality care.

Opening to patients in late July, the new medical office building will serve as a regional hub for outpatient surgery, specialty services and comprehensive cancer care. It brings a wide range of care together in one location, including cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, weight management, orthopedics and oncology, for patients across Greensboro and surrounding communities.

“The opening of Medical Plaza Northwest Greensboro reflects our enduring commitment to the communities we serve and underscores how we’re advancing access to care by bringing services closer to home and meeting people where they are," said Dr. Craig Greven, interim president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and interim executive vice president for clinical health affairs for Wake Forest University. “This new facility represents more than expanded services—it’s about enhancing convenience, strengthening relationships and continuing to build trust as we grow alongside the Greensboro community."

The ambulatory surgery center features three operating rooms, two procedure rooms and a dedicated heart and vascular procedure room. Additional on-site services include infusion therapy bays, a pharmacy, imaging and physical therapy. These integrated services are designed to provide patients with faster diagnoses, coordinated treatments and a more seamless healthcare experience — all in one convenient location close to home.

The cancer center at Medical Plaza Northwest Greensboro is part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This designation ensures that patients in Greensboro have direct access to nationally recognized specialists, advanced therapies and innovative clinical trials through Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Atrium Health Levine Cancer and Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

"The opening of this new medical office building and ambulatory surgery center represents our next step to delivering trusted, high-quality healthcare to this community," said Dr. Matt Edwards, chief physician executive at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. "This facility expands access to the full capabilities of the region’s only academic health system. For patients, that means more choice and easier access to advanced care, participation in cutting edge research and highly specialized services — right here in Greensboro."

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist established its presence in Greensboro in 2006 and has since grown to more than 35 primary care, specialty and urgent care locations. The organization plans to further expand its footprint with a new medical center scheduled to open nearby in 2029, increasing access to coordinated care while supporting economic growth and strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
