Sportsmen’s Saturday Fundraising Event Set for November 4

August 3, 2023

Sportsmen’s Saturday, the largest fundraiser for the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center Foundation, will return on Saturday, Nov. 4 to Breeden Insurance Amphitheater in Uptown Lexington. Sportsmen’s Saturday is a premier community fundraising event for outdoor enthusiasts.

“All proceeds from this event will be used for upgrades to our emergency department and will help us provide even better care to our community,” said Bill James, president of Lexington Medical Center. “This event is always so much fun, and it’s a great way for our hospital to engage with our friends and neighbors while benefiting our community.”

“Sportsmen’s Saturday is an exciting, fast-paced event that’s fun for the community but also serves a greater purpose locally,” said Birke McNeill, board chair of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation.  “Every penny will stay here locally and enhance patient care.”

“Almost 1,000 people attended the event in 2022,” said Paula Turlington, member of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation and event chair. “This will be our second year hosting the event at Breeden Insurance Amphitheater.  It is the perfect space for the event and provides plenty of space for us to display our prizes, offer a huge food and beverage tent and enjoy the event. We look forward to seeing everyone again this fall.”

The event, presented by Rock Outdoors, will feature many big-ticket raffle prizes as well as an online auction. Raffle prizes are valued at more than $125,000. Prizes include items like a 2023 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab, Crestliner 1600 Retriever Deluxe, a pontoon boat and a Kubota RTV. The silent auction will be available for preview beginning Oct. 20 and will include Carolina Panthers football tickets, UNC Chapel Hill basketball tickets, a Yeti cooler, a Bob Timberlake original painting and more. A complete list of prizes and silent auction items is on the event website.

Tickets are $125 each and include entry for the prize drawings and food and drinks at the event. Tickets are on sale now and if purchased by Sept. 15, participants will be entered to win additional “early bird” prizes.  Early bird ticket purchasers will be entered into several cash drawings for $1,000, $2,000 and $5,000 and will also be included in the main prize drawings. Only 2,300 raffle tickets will be sold.

Participants do not need to be present to win prizes, but only those in attendance will be able to take part in additional prize opportunities, such as door prizes, a live auction and a 50/50 raffle.

The Nov. 4th Sportsmen’s Saturday event will be emceed by Chris Kelly, co-host of the “Two Guys Named Chris Show” on Rock 92 and meteorologist and news anchor Eric Chilton from WFMY News 2. This year's event will recognize Richard Childress as honorary chair.
