Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center was recently honored by the Building Commissioning Association (BCxA.org) at their annual meeting in Glendale, AZ.
Wilkes Medical Center received the National Commissioning Excellence Award for existing buildings for the work that they have been doing to increase their energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.
Working with Commissioning WorCx, who submitted the award application, their in-house staff was able to reduce energy consumption by 17%, reduce maintenance costs, and improve patient comfort. They are currently completing additional work that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions even further.
“We are proud of our engineering staff for not only making sure our hospital environment is safe and comfortable for our patients and employees but also helping us in our continued journey to being an environmental leader,” said Chad Brown, president of Wilkes Medical Center.
