Wake Forest Baptist Health has recently added a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and facility at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Davie Medical Center to better serve the imaging needs of people in the area.
MRI is a test that uses powerful magnets, radio waves, and a computer to make detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Your doctor can use this test to diagnose you or to see how well you've responded to treatment. The new machine provides a more convenient and comfortable atmosphere for patients and replaces the external MRI mobile unit that has been used for the past eight years.
The Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T MRI unit was opened for training and testing the week of May 17. First patient scans took place the week of May 24, 2021.
“This investment represents a dramatic leap forward in MRI technology for Davie Medical Center,” said Christopher Whitlow, M.D., professor and interim chair of radiology at Wake Forest Baptist Health. “This new MRI scanner enables us to be even more efficient while providing fast, precise and consistent results.”
“Our goal is to constantly improve the convenience, comfort, and quality of the care we offer our community,” said Chad Brown, president of Wake Forest Baptist Health – Davie Medical Center. “This new machine helps us elevate the level of care we provide and deliver a better patient experience in our award winning, patient focused environment.”
