From sprains and strains to ear infections and fevers, there is now another choice for urgent care on the weekends.
Wake Forest Baptist Health’s Urgent Care – Piedmont Plaza I, located at 1920 W. First St. in Winston-Salem, treats anyone from newborns to adults and is now open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
“We are pleased to be able to better serve those in our community who have unexpected needs and minor medical emergencies over the weekends,” said James Guerrini, M.D., medical director for Wake Forest Baptist’s urgent care services. “Adding this location supports our commitment to providing convenient access and lower cost, high value options for consumers and employers in our area.”
People do not have to be existing Wake Forest Baptist patients to be seen at this new location. Making an online reservation at www.wakehealth.edu/urgent-care can help reduce wait times but walk-in patients are always welcome.
“Treating patients in an urgent care setting can help reduce unnecessary emergency department visits which benefits both patients and the health care community,” said Richard Lord, M.D., vice president of clinical operations and chair of family medicine at Wake Forest Baptist.
Urgent Care – Piedmont Plaza I is Wake Forest Baptist’s eighth urgent care location.
While urgent care facilities can be a convenient option for many patients with minor injuries or illnesses, it is important to remember that people with serious medical issues or life-threatening emergencies should always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
