Free High School Sports Physicals Available for Local Students

May 28, 2019

More local high school student-athletes will be able to take advantage of Wake Forest Baptist Health’s free sports physicals this year.

The pre-participation physicals will be held on Saturday, June 1 for high school students – including incoming freshmen – who plan to participate in any sport during the upcoming school year.

Last year, student-athletes from 12 high schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) system received these free physicals. This year, the number has been expanded to include six more schools, including five in Guilford County.

“We are so pleased to now be able to offer these sports physicals to even more of our local high school student-athletes,” said Christopher Ina, M.A., ATC, Wake Forest Baptist’s manager of athletic training services. “Each student will receive a thorough orthopaedic and medical exam by our sports medicine team, which can identify pre-existing health issues and help keep young athletes healthy and safe.”

High school student-athletes from WS/FCS and Lexington High School will receive the free sports physicals at Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Plaza – Miller, located at 131 Miller St. in Winston-Salem.

High school student-athletes who attend High Point Central, High Point Christian Academy, Ragsdale, Southwest Guilford and Wesleyan Christian Academy will receive the free sports physicals at Wake Forest Baptist Health Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine – High Point, located at 611 Lindsay St. in High Point.

Student-athletes should check with their athletic director to find out their assigned time.

The sports physicals are provided by the same sports medicine teams who treat the area’s professional and collegiate athletes – including those from the Winston-Salem Dash, the High Point Rockers and Wake Forest University.
