Davie Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Program Earns Prestigious Certification

Wake Forest Baptist Health – Davie Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Certification.

Davie Medical Center is the first hospital in the state to earn this certification, which, according to The Joint Commission, is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. 

Wake Forest Baptist Physician Named to National Dietary Guidelines Committee

Jamy Ard, M.D., professor of epidemiology and prevention at Wake Forest Baptist Health, was named to the U.S. Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.

Ard and other committee members will review evidence on topics and questions identified by the Departments and will provide a report on their findings. Their review will help inform USDA and HHS’ development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Wake Forest Baptist Physician Awarded for Psoriasis Research

Steven Feldman, M.D., professor of dermatology at Wake Forest Baptist Health, has been awarded the Outstanding Educator in Psoriatic Disease Award by the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) and the Medical Professionals Awards Committee. 

This award recognizes Feldman’s efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected. 

The NPF is a patient advocacy group for those living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Wake Forest Baptist Physician Named President-Elect of State Board

William Huang, M.D., associate professor of dermatology at Wake Forest Baptist Health, has been named president-elect to the N.C. Dermatology Association (NCDA). 

The mission of the NCDA is to align physicians within the state so that they may interact on the purposes of professional education, advocacy for quality patient care and advancement of the practice of dermatology. 

Wake Forest Baptist Physician Appointed to National Board of Trustees

Reginald Munden, M.D., chair of radiology at Wake Forest Baptist Health, has been appointed to the board of trustees for the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) Research and Education Foundation.

The RSNA improves patient care by supporting radiology research and education
