Most women reach menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, but menopause may occur as early as the 30s or it may not occur until a woman reaches her 60s. There are many signs and symptoms of menopause including, hot flashes, urinary incontinence and bone loss, to name a few.
Post-menopause refers to the years after menopause. During this stage, menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, can ease for many women. But, as a result of a lower level of estrogen, post-menopausal women are at increased risk for a number of health conditions, such as osteoporosis and heart disease.
What can be done to minimize the symptoms and health risks associated with menopause and post-menopause? How can women protect their bones and heart during and after?
