Thirteen Wake Forest Baptist Nurses Honored
Thirteen nurses from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center have been named Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina by the Great 100 Nurses Board of Directors.

The Great 100 is an organization that honors nurses throughout the state for their excellence in the nursing profession, contributions to the community and efforts toward improving patient care and nursing education.
Wake Forest Baptist Physician Earns National Recognition
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – August 26, 2016 – Daniel Krowchuk, M.D., professor of pediatrics and dermatology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has been awarded the Alvin H. Jacobs Award.
This award is presented by the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Dermatology and recognizes Krowchuk’s lifetime contributions to the field of pediatric dermatology.
The Alvin H. Jacobs Award was created in 1988 in honor of the late Alvin H. Jacobs, M.D. Jacobs was a founder of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology.
Wake Forest Baptist Nurse Anesthetist Receives National Award
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – August 26, 2016 – Michael Rieker, D.N.P., C.R.N.A., director of the nurse anesthesia program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has been awarded the Program Director of the Year Award by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
The award recognizes Rieker’s contribution to the education of student nurse anesthetists and commitment to the advancement of educational standards that further the science of nurse anesthesia and patient care.
The AANA is the professional association of certified registered nurse anesthetists and student registered nurse anesthetists.
Wake Forest Baptist Researcher Recognized for Training Efforts
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – August 26, 2016 – Thomas Arcury, Ph.D., professor of family and community medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has been awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award for Occupational and Preventive Medicine by Meharry Medical College (Nashville).
The award recognizes Arcury’s efforts in the training of residents in occupational and preventive medicine. Arcury has focused on developing resident knowledge, awareness and capability of understanding clinical and behavioral adversities that plague the migrant farm worker community.
