Wake Forest Baptist Recognized for Its Orthopaedic Program

November 12, 2014

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has been named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “125 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs” for 2014. It is the only hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. to be listed.

The hospitals and health systems featured on the list have orthopaedic surgery departments, programs or dedicated centers that have earned recognition from several reputable sources.

Wake Forest Baptist is ranked as one of the top 100 orthopaedic surgery centers by CareChex for 2014. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 2 in North Carolina for 2014-15 and the pediatric orthopaedic department No. 39. In addition, 17 adult and pediatric orthopaedic surgeons at Wake Forest Baptist were named to the 2014 Best Doctors in America list. The medical center was also accredited with The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for hip and knee joint replacements, among other services. Internationally, the hospital’s Division of Upper Extremity, Hand and Microsurgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recognized by Canada-based Orthogate, Toronto, ON.

Wake Forest Baptist’s orthopaedic specialists treat every type of condition from broken bones to complex joint replacements with advanced techniques and research-based approaches. The orthopaedic surgeons perform procedures – many of which are minimally invasive – and follow pain and anesthesia protocols not widely available in the region. The department’s Life Optimization program helps prepare patients for an active lifestyle and surgery and designs programs to maximize their activity and quality of life.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a monthly publication that offers business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
