Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has named Charles R. Vignos as vice president, managed care.
Vignos, a certified public accountant, joins the Medical Center from Summa Health Systems in Akron, Ohio, where he held a variety of executive positions.
At Wake Forest Baptist, Vignos leads institution-wide development of an integrated and coordinated approach to all aspects of its relationships with third-party payers. His responsibilities include strategy, contracting and operations to support network development and service and market expansion.
At Summa Health Systems, which he joined in 2001, Vignos served as president of its physician hospital organization, as chief operating officer of its managed care section and its accountable care organization, and as a board member and chair of its statewide preferred provider network.
Prior to his work at Summa, Vignos was vice president of finance and information systems and chief financial officer at Hometown Health Network, a Massillon, Ohio-based managed care organization. He began his career as an accountant after earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Akron.
