Wake Forest Baptist Serves as Official Medical Provider at the Winston-Salem Open

August 13, 2014

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will play several major roles as the official medical provider at the Winston-Salem Open tennis tournament, held Aug. 16-23.

Wake Forest Baptist medical experts are prepared to assist both competitors and attendees with any medical attention needed during the event. As this year’s tournament medical director, sports medicine specialist Daryl Rosenbaum, M.D., will lead the Wake Forest Baptist team and advise athletes during the competition.

The Medical Center’s nationally recognized research in sports injury prevention, its preeminent sports medicine physician training programs and the advanced, minimally invasive treatments that it provides to athletes of all ages benefit both amateurs and professionals.

While providing support for the event, Wake Forest Baptist will offer ticketholders the opportunity to have a shoe fitting, gait screening and balance and core stability assessment; learn about healthy recipes from Brenner FIT dietitians; ask sports medicine physicians questions about the risks of sports injuries; and get advice from physical therapists on how to know you’re ready to return to training after an injury.

Representatives from the Heart and Vascular Center at Wake Forest Baptist will also be on hand to answer questions about heart disease and prevention and to offer healthy heart eating tips and BMI calculations.
