The adult emergency department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will undergo lobby renovations beginning Monday, June 23. Construction is anticipated to take six weeks.
Please note that only the lobby will be closed during this time. Emergency access for patients will remain in place and drop off at the Emergency Department (ED) allowed. Patients will be taken to a treatment room within the ED or to a treatment space within the clinical area to begin care should all ED treatment rooms be occupied.
A temporary Emergency Department lobby space for ED visitors will be established in the North Tower lobby located on the circle behind the valet office. Signs will direct ED visitors to the temporary North Tower lobby, and volunteers and other staff will be present to provide directions and assistance to those seeking patient information. The temporary lobby will be staffed.
The new and improved ED lobby will feature a more open floor plan and will include quiet areas, soothing color schemes, updated family consultation space and improved access to patient information and way finding to and from the lobby.
The renovations consist of removing a few walls, adding new flooring, finishes and lighting and installing new furniture, which was selected by the Medical Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council.
We want to thank patients and their families ahead of time for their patience and understanding during the construction and ask all to use caution around the construction zone.
