For the 14th consecutive year, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has received a Consumer Choice Award as the top-rated hospital in the Winston-Salem area.
The awards are presented annually by National Research Corp., a Lincoln, Neb.-based health care research company, to recognize hospitals receiving the highest quality and image ratings from consumers in markets across the country.
The 277 winners for 2013-14 were determined through NRC surveys of more than 270,000 households in the continental United States conducted between Sept. 30, 2012, and Aug. 31, 2013. Hospitals named by consumers were grouped by Core Based Statistical Areas – geographic regions defined by the U.S. Census Bureau – and ranked according to their scores in multiple consumer-perception categories.
The Winston-Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Forsyth, Davie, Stokes, Yadkin and Davidson counties.
“We are thrilled to offer this annual award because we understand how important the role of reputation is in health care consumer decision-making,” said Susan L. Hendricks, president and chief operating officer of NRC, which first presented Consumer Choice Awards in 1996.
