Eighth Annual Event Scheduled for Dec. 6-7
99.5 WMAG-FM will broadcast a two-day radiothon to benefit Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 6-7.
On-air personalities Lora Songster and Chris Fox will lead the event, which will be broadcast from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The funds raised will be used to advance patient care at Brenner. The event will showcase the impact that Brenner has had on the lives of children and their families in the Triad and throughout the region, and honor individuals and groups whose hard work throughout the year improves the the lives of all children.
This will be WMAG’s eighth radiothon on behalf of Brenner, with the previous seven having raised a combined total of nearly $500,000.
This year’s radiothon also will receive support from the musical group Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Great Clips salons and Qdoba restaurants in the area.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which performed two shows in Greensboro on Sunday, Dec. 2, donated $5,000 plus $1 from every ticket sold to its concerts to Brenner.
Great Clips has encouraged donations to Brenner through a two-month campaign in its salon locations to sell Brenner pin-up sheets. Each sheet sells for $2. The company will announce the fundraising total from that effort during the radiothon on Dec. 7.
Qdoba restaurants in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Burlington and Chapel Hill will donate a portion of sales on Thursday, Dec. 6, to the Brenner radiothon. The total donation will be based on the number of customers at store locations that day—for up to 25 customers, restaurants will donate 10 percent of sales; for up to 75 customers, restaurants will donate 15 percent; and for more than 75 customers, restaurants will donate 20 percent. In addition, the Qdoba restaurant at 57 Miller St. in Winston-Salem will offer the promotion every Thursday during December.
