Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Staff Receives Triad Business Leader Award
Rachna Atwal, director of Hospitality Services at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has received the 2011 Triad Business Leader of the Year award in the hotel category for the Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center, a subsidiary of Wake Forest Baptist.
Atwal, who has 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the hospitality industry, joined Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 2006 as director of The Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center. In 2009, her role was expanded to also direct patient transportation, patron attendants, valet and international patient care.
“It is an honor to receive this award,” said Atwal. “The award reflects my commitment and the commitment of my exceptional team at The Hawthorne Inn, all of whom show a dedication to service excellence with our patients and our patrons.”
The Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center opened its doors to the public in November 1992 as a full-service, independent lodging facility. The hotel has 132 guest rooms, 13 suites, an on-site restaurant and 10,000 square feet of banquet space. The facility is an eminent part of the community, serving the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and all market segments.
Creative Communications Receives Creative Awards
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – May 23, 2011 – The Creative Communications department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center received two 2011 Creative Awards.
These awards were presented on March 21 at the North Carolina Museums Council annual meeting in Greensboro.Joey Robbins, art director of Creative Communications, was the creator of the Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology’s Education Programs Guide, which won the award for Best Programs Guide.
Tammy Ball, senior designer, also received an award for her design work on a Wake Forest University Museum of Anthropology piece called, “Art of Sky, Art of Earth” or “Arte del Cielo, Arte de la Tierra.” This won the North Carolina Museums Council’s 2011 Creative Award for Best Bi-Lingual Entry.
