The sixth annual 99.5WMAG-FM Radiothon raised nearly $100,000 to help patients and their families at Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
On-air personalities Lora Songster and Rod Davis led the event, which was broadcast from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 3 and 4, and raised $96,300.
“Brenner patients and their families have enriched my life in so many ways,” Songster said. “Their hope, camaraderie and grace under pressure are humbling and certainly an inspiration.”
Gifts included a generous $5,000 contribution, the largest corporate gift for the 2011 event, from Furnitureland South, and donations from individuals from across North Carolina and surrounding states.
The event showcased the impact that Brenner has had on the lives of children and their families in the Triad and throughout the region, and honored the individuals and groups whose hard work throughout the year serves to improve the lives of all children.
This was 99.5 WMAG’s sixth radiothon on behalf of Brenner, and the station has now helped raise a total of nearly half a million dollars for the children’s hospital.
