Medical Director Named for Inpatient Rehab Programs

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – David W. Lacey, M.D., has joined Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as the new medical director of Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Services located in the Sticht Center.

Lacey was formerly clinical vice president of Neurosciences and Rehabilitation Services for the Marietta Memorial Health System in Marietta, Ohio. He also served as medical director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services and chair of the Department of Medicine at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Lacey graduated from Kent State University and earned his medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Kentucky and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic.

He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in spinal cord injuries and certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Since 1995, Lacey has been named one of the Best Doctors® in America.

Lacey, who is a physiatrist, is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine and a Fellow of the American Spinal Cord Injury Association. Physiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in rehabilitating and restoring optimal function to people with injuries and illnesses to the muscles, bones, tissues and nervous system, such as strokes, spinal cord injuries, major trauma, amputations, brain injuries and neurological diseases.
