WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Linda M. Sangiuliano, CRNA, of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, has been named the 2010 president of the North Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists (NCANA).
The association serves the 2,800 certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) across the state who practice in all types of medical facilities.
“I am really pleased to be able to represent my fellow nurse anesthetists as the state president for the coming year,” Sangiuliano said. “It’s a great honor.”
Sangiuliano is one of two chief certified registered nurse anesthetists of the inpatient operating room. They oversee the 40 CRNAs, 18 anesthesia technicians, the holding room registered nurses, as well as the regional nurses. They run 27 operating sites daily and co-ordinate the staffing of these rooms around the clock. She also administers anesthesia in addition to her administrative duties, sits on a variety of committees, and serves as a clinical instructor for the medical center’s nurse anesthesia program.
Sangiuliano received her nursing diploma from Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing in Sayre, Pa., attended Syracuse University and later received her nurse anesthesia diploma from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia. She first came to Wake Forest Baptist in 1986, left in 1990, but returned in 2005.
