Sells Receives Lifetime Membership to the North Carolina Society for Respiratory Care

October 21, 2009

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Rick Sells, M.B.A., R.R.T., director of Respiratory Care Services at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, was awarded Lifetime Membership by the North Carolina Society for Respiratory Care (NCSRC) for his dedication, contribution and service to the association over a career that has spanned more than three decades. Through the years, only 11 respiratory care practitioners in the state have received this honor, one of the highest honors of its kind.

To qualify for life membership, Sells had to be an active member of NCSRC, serve as a board member, committee chairperson or member, state officer, or in the House of Delegates. He also showed significant and outstanding contribution to the practice of respiratory care and the society.

“I was totally surprised, in particular because of how many colleagues are just as deserving as I am” said Sells. “I was especially honored and humbled by this award because it came from my peers.”

Sells is a registered respiratory therapist and a licensed respiratory care practitioner. He attended East Tennessee State University’s pre-med curriculum. He graduated with an associate’s degree in applied sciences for respiratory care from Forsyth Technical Community College. He then attended Wake Forest University where he completed a master of business administration.  Sells has been employed by Wake Forest Baptist since 1972.

This award was presented Sept. 15-18 at the NCSRC Annual meeting in Winston-Salem.
