New Kidney Specialist Joins Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Isai Gopalakrishnan, M.D., a kidney specialist, joined the section on nephrology faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Sept. 7. She is an instructor.

Gopalakrishnan specializes in clinical nephrology, hypertension-related kidney disease, glomerular diseases and peritoneal dialysis.

Her teaching interests include electrolyte disturbances, acid-base disorders and acute/chronic kidney disease.

Gopalakrishnan earned her medical degree at Texas A&M University Health Science Center in College Station, Texas, and completed both a residency and fellowship at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. She is board-certified in internal medicine.

Wake Forest Baptist is ranked among the nation’s top 50 hospitals for care of kidney disease by U.S. News & World Report.
