April 6, 2009

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest University Health Sciences Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) has received notification of its four-year, national CME reaccreditation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

The OCME offers courses, workshops and other learning experiences for physicians. The OCME is among only the second group of accredited providers to be evaluated under the ACCME’s “Updated Criteria,” which were announced in 2006 and fully implemented in November 2008.  These new criteria are consistent with the increased transparency of CME processes, funding and partnerships.

The OCME began its reaccreditation preparations in February 2007, and a self-study application and documentation review were submitted to the ACCME in July 2008.  Additionally, a teleconference site visit took place in October 2008.  After a thorough review, the OCME was reaccredited until March 2013.
