WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center employee, Donna Kernodle, MPH, has achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the Certification Examination for Diabetes Educators.
Kernodle, who is a registered dietitian, received her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from Salem College and completed a master’s degree in public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The CDE credential represents a comprehensive review of all areas of diabetes management, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes. Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be able to take the examination.
“My work at the Diabetes Care Center prepared me very well for taking this important examination. My goal in patient education is to empower my patients to take control of their lives and to live fully," said Kernodle, diabetes educator for the Diabetes Care Center at Wake Forest Baptist.
