Blackstock Named One of America’s Leading Physicians

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A. William Blackstock Jr., M.D., professor and chair-elect of radiation oncology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, has been named one of America’s leading African American physicians by Black Enterprise magazine. A radiation oncologist, Blackstock is also a clinical trial investigator in lung and gastrointestinal cancers. Blackstock is among 140 physicians awarded this distinction by Black Enterprise magazine. Selection was based on these physicians being leaders in their field and recommended by major medical organizations including the American Medical Association, Association of American Physicians and Surgeons and Centers for Disease Control. Recommendations from the nation’s leading medical schools were also included in the decision process.
Blackstock earned his medical degree from East Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at University of North Carolina Hospitals. He has been on the faculty of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center since 1996.
