WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Emerging treatments for brain trauma, family fun with neuroscience, and a play and discussion about the effects of stroke are among the activities involving neurosciences students and faculty from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in this year’s Brain Awareness Season in Winston-Salem.
Brain Awareness Week is an international effort organized by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and the Society for Neuroscience to advance public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. The official observance is March 10-16, although local events have been planned for both March and April. The events highlight the wonders of the brain and nervous system, to help people of all ages and backgrounds understand more about the “universe between their ears.”
Winston-Salem Brain Awareness events have been organized by the Brain Awareness Council (www.brainawareness.info), a group of science graduate students at the Medical Center, Targacept Inc., and the Western North Carolina Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience.
