Mrs. Pumpkin’s Bakery and Deli is sponsoring a gingerbread house event on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to benefit the HIV Family Fund at Brenner Children’s Hospital.
Children can make gingerbread houses, enjoy refreshments, holiday music and Santa, while celebrating the holidays and helping children living with HIV. Reservations are required by calling 336-924-9797. Mrs. Pumpkins Bakery and Deli is located on 3645-B Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem.
“This event helps us provide medications, transportation and to pay rent or electric bills for the children in the region living with HIV,” said Dara Garner-Edwards, social worker at Brenner Children’s Hospital. “These children need our understanding and help to overcome the social stigma associated the disease and to be treated like other children their age. Currently, children living with HIV have many treatment options and are living longer lives. We now see children born with HIV infection grow into adulthood and even graduate from our pediatric clinic to an adult HIV clinic.”
